This policy explains how RobotEd collects, uses, and protects personal data when you use roboted.ch, create an account, place an order, contact us, subscribe to communications, or otherwise interact with our services. RobotEd processes personal data in accordance with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP).
1. Who is responsible for your data?
The data controller is Samuel Hills, trading as RobotEd, Chrätzlistrasse 74, 8195 Wasterkingen, Switzerland. For privacy-related requests, contact support@roboted.ch.
2. What personal data do we collect?
Depending on how you use RobotEd, we may process your name, email address, account identifier, authentication information, preferences, and account creation or login information. Firebase Authentication handles passwords; RobotEd does not store them in readable form. If you sign in with Google, we may receive the profile information made available through that authentication process, but not your Google password.
3. Orders and customer data
For orders, we may process your contact and shipping or billing details, products, quantities, prices, shipping method, payment and order status, tracking, returns, refunds, support history, and other information needed to fulfil the order and maintain legally required records.
4. Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe. Stripe may process payment-method information, billing details, payment identifiers, fraud-prevention information, transaction amounts, and payment status. RobotEd normally does not receive or store your full payment-card number.
5. Shipping
For physical shipments, necessary delivery information may be disclosed to Swiss Post or another shipping provider, including your name, address, contact details where required, parcel information, and tracking information.
6. Customer support
If you contact RobotEd, we may process your name, email address, order number, message contents, photographs, attachments, technical information, and other information you provide to answer requests, diagnose problems, and handle warranty or return claims.
7. Newsletter and marketing communications
You may voluntarily subscribe to newsletters or other marketing communications. We may process your email address, subscription and confirmation dates, language preference, source, engagement information where enabled, and unsubscribe information. You can unsubscribe at any time. Transactional messages are not marketing messages.
8. Shopping carts
RobotEd may store cart products, variants, quantities, and creation or update times. Logged-in carts may be associated with an account; anonymous carts may use cookies, browser storage, or similar technologies. Cart reminders will only be sent where permitted and appropriately configured.
9. Website analytics
RobotEd may use Google Analytics and related tools to understand website usage, product interest, checkout performance, downloads, documentation use, referrals, and device or browser information. Where consent is required for non-essential analytics, those technologies will not be activated until the relevant choice is made.
10. Cookies and similar technologies
Necessary cookies or browser storage may support authentication, security, carts, checkout, sessions, essential settings, and abuse prevention. Analytics technologies may be used only where appropriately enabled. You can also manage cookies through your browser settings.
11. Firebase and Google infrastructure
RobotEd uses Firebase and related Google services for authentication, hosting, databases, file storage, security, logging, and analytics. Depending on configuration, Google may process IP addresses, device information, account identifiers, and application activity.
12. Email infrastructure
RobotEd uses email and SMTP infrastructure to send account, order, payment, shipping, refund, support, and subscribed newsletter messages. Email providers may process information necessary to deliver those communications.
13. Technical logs and security
RobotEd and its infrastructure providers may process IP addresses, timestamps, browser and device information, requested URLs, authentication events, error logs, application logs, and suspected abuse or security events to protect accounts, prevent fraud, diagnose problems, maintain availability, and investigate misuse.
14. Why do we process personal data?
We process personal data as reasonably necessary to operate roboted.ch, provide accounts, authenticate users, process and ship orders, provide support, handle returns and warranties, prevent fraud and abuse, secure and improve the website and documentation, operate analytics, communicate with subscribers, maintain business records, and comply with legal obligations.
15. Who receives personal data?
RobotEd does not sell customer personal data. Information may be disclosed to Google/Firebase, Stripe, analytics providers, email and SMTP providers, Swiss Post, hosting and infrastructure providers, professional advisers where necessary, and public authorities where legally required. Providers receive only information reasonably required for their service.
16. Processing outside Switzerland
International service providers may process information outside Switzerland. Where required, RobotEd uses transfer mechanisms permitted by applicable Swiss data-protection law, such as recognized adequate-protection countries or appropriate contractual safeguards.
17. How long do we keep data?
RobotEd keeps personal data only as long as reasonably necessary for its purpose and applicable legal, accounting, warranty, and security obligations. Anonymous carts may be deleted quickly, account information may be kept while active, suppression records may be retained after unsubscribe, and completed order or security records may need longer retention.
18. Data security
RobotEd takes reasonable technical and organizational measures including HTTPS, secure authentication, restricted administrative access, server-side authorization, Stripe payment processing, access controls, security logging, backups, and reasonably current systems and dependencies. No internet-based system can guarantee absolute security.
19. Your rights
Subject to Swiss data-protection law, you may request information, correction, deletion where applicable, object to certain processing, request data transfer where applicable, or withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. Contact support@roboted.ch; reasonable identity verification may be required.
20. Account deletion
You may request deletion of your RobotEd account by contacting support@roboted.ch. Information that must be retained for legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, warranty, or other legitimate purposes may remain after account deletion.
21. Children
RobotEd products may be used in educational settings and by younger robotics enthusiasts, but the shop is not designed to intentionally collect personal data directly from young children without appropriate involvement of a parent, guardian, school, or other responsible person.
22. Third-party links
RobotEd pages and documentation may link to GitHub, open-source project websites, YouTube, documentation sites, and manufacturers. Their own privacy practices apply once you visit those services.
23. Downloads
RobotEd may offer STL, CAD, PDF, manuals, wiring diagrams, BOMs, and other resources. Aggregate or event-level download information may be recorded for security, analytics, and product development.
24. Changes to this Privacy Policy
RobotEd may update this policy when services, providers, functionality, or legal requirements change. The current version is published on roboted.ch and the date above shows when it was last revised.
25. Contact
